The Construction of a Medieval Cathedral
Tuesday 27 March | Walking tour workshop: 14.00-16.00 followed by conversation in the pub at Canterbury Cathedral led by Dr. Nikolaos Karydis, Senior Lecturer in Architecture, University of Kent
This is a workshop for all medievalists and early modernists - historians, literary scholars, art historians and beyond - who are looking to understand the construction of a medieval cathedral. The session is conceived as a focused introduction, and source of inspiration, for people working broadly on the middle ages and early modern period in Europe (including the British Isles). This will not be a guide to iconography or to the cathedral's history, but rather a tour of Canterbury's magnificent cathedral by practicing architect and academic architectural history, Nikolaos Karydis. The workshop is designed especially for people who are new to the study of architecture.
Places are strictly limited so please reserve your spot. This training is also open to academic staff at CHASE member institutions.
